The Chair of the National Housing Federation, Baroness Diana Warwick, visited Second Step recently. She met staff and service users at our Toll House Court project in Bedminster, Bristol.
Toll House Court resident Paul met the Baroness and spoke about the support he’d received. “Being in a supportive environment has given me the space to take positive risks and focus on MY future. I’m excited for the future for the first time in a long time”.
Baroness Warwick said: “It was sobering to hear of the complex problems of homelessness in Bristol, but truly uplifting to see what a difference Second Step is making to vulnerable people’s lives”. Talking about the Government’s housing proposals which could aversely affect important support services, she said “Second Step’s concerns are echoed in the campaigning the Federation is doing to persuade the government to change course.”
The Baroness also met members of the Golden Key team and found out more about the pioneering work of the partnership.
