Somerset Men’s Mental Health Project
Second Step is partnering with other mental health organisations in Somerset to raise awareness of men’s mental health. One of the aims of the Somerset Men’s Mental Health Project will be to create spaces for men to talk about their own mental health and facilitate access to local services and networks.
As part of the Project, Second Step hosted a listening event yesterday (26 November) bringing together individuals, communities and organisations working in the men’s mental health arena and in suicide prevention, including people with lived experience. Another listening event will be held during the week of 30 November.
Leading expert in suicide prevention and mental health, Professor David Gunnell from the University of Bristol, spoke to Second Step’s Communications Manager Jane Edmonds, about why men are at more risk of suicide.
